Tour of the station - the cooling towers

On Friday I had my last tour of the power station before it closes. I was joined by Martyn Bull, a film maker, and James Attlee, author of "Isolarion: A different Oxford journey". He is currently 'writer on the train' for First Great Western. Check out his blog at http://writeronthetrain.com.

We had arranged to spend much longer at the power station on this visit to enable us to capture lots of images, sound and film.

The next few posts on this blog will take you on a tour of the power station, starting at the cooling towers.

In this last photo you can see some of the irregularities in the blockwork. It's interesting that despite the high-tech method of construction and the purity of the forms when seen from a distance, there are some imperfections.
